Product description
What you get: Four metal stitching chisels in 1-, 2-, 4-, and 6-prong configurations intended for leatherwork, lacing, and hole marking. The collection supplies the typical range of prong counts needed for marking short curves, straight runs, and long seams.
Construction and feel: Each chisel is made from durable metal with pointed tines and textured dents on the sides of the body to improve grip and reduce slippage while hammering. The prongs are arranged evenly to deliver uniform spacing and a consistent hole pattern when used as intended.
Sizes and purpose: The single-prong tool is handy for spot marking, right-angle fills, or isolated punches. The two-prong chisel suits small curves and tight spacing. The four-prong option is a common choice for short straight runs, while the six-prong chisel is intended for longer stretches of stitching.
How to use: These chisels are struck with a mallet to drive the tines through the leather to mark or create holes for stitching. Some users employ them to complete piercings; others use them as guides for awls. Keep in mind you should allow for slight variation in measurements when positioning holes.
Care and tweaks: Out of the box a couple of irons may show tooling marks or feel a bit tight in the leather; many crafters lightly deburr or polish the tines to improve withdrawal and cutting action. Hand maintenance can noticeably improve performance and longevity.
Pros
- Includes four common prong sizes for varied tasks
- Textured sides for improved grip during use
- Evenly spaced tines produce uniform hole patterns
Cons
- Some pieces may show rough tooling marks out of the box
- Occasionally sticks in leather until deburred
- Not a premium finished set for heavy production
VerdictThis four-piece set covers the common prong counts used in hand-sewn leatherwork and produces tidy holes when the tines are reasonably sharp. The textured flanks help keep the chisel steady during striking and the prongs are spaced for typical lacing and saddle stitching. Some pieces may arrive with rough tooling marks or a tight fit in the leather and can benefit from light sanding or deburring.

Handy for marking seam lines
Very useful for laying out even stitch spacing on leather pieces.

John Burger 5/5
Does the job
Performs fine for basic hole punching.

Requires some prep work
Finish quality is rough on a couple of irons and they gripped the leather tightly. I had to sand the tooling marks down so the two-prong would stop behaving like a rasp. After smoothing them they became much more usable; expect some elbow grease.

Matches the description
Works as intended. I would prefer the prongs to be slightly closer together for tighter stitching.

Solid and dependable
Sturdy feel and they do the job as expected.

Needed a quick polish to perform perfectly
They worked but tended to bind after being driven. I smoothed the faces and tips with a rotary abrasive and the problem vanished. After a little polishing they pull out easily and cut like a much pricier set.

Great value and very sharp
Very happy with these punches. The prongs are sharp and the set handled four stacked layers of thick hide without tearing. Even at the edge of the tines they cut cleanly and the leather releases nicely compared with some older irons I own.

Good for small projects
Sharp enough and serviceable for smaller craft jobs, though the tines are a bit small for heavy work.
