Tiffani Thiessen: Inside My Signature Moment

My Experience at the Signature Brands Launch Event Hosted by Safeway

I recently had the wonderful opportunity to attend the Signature Brands launch event hosted by Safeway in Los Angeles. I spent the day with 25 talented bloggers, tasted a wide variety of Signature products, and even cooked alongside Tiffani Thiessen. It was an unforgettable day filled with great food, new friends, and plenty of inspiration for easy, everyday cooking.

The new Signature line from Albertsons Companies impressed me with its breadth and value. With more than 4,000 items spanning soups, fresh produce, coffee, juice, baked goods, pasta sauces, poultry and other meats, as well as household goods like paper and laundry products, the Signature family aims to cover all the pantry staples at affordable prices. The collection includes Signature Select, Signature Kitchens, Signature Farms, Signature Cafe, Signature Home, and Signature Care. Everything is guaranteed—if you’re not satisfied, you can get your money back. I shop these products at my local Safeway in the DC area, and they are available across the Albertsons family of stores, including ACME, Vons, Pavilions, Randalls, Jewel-Osco, Tom Thumb, Shaws, Star Market, United Express, United, and Carrs/Safeway.

The event took place at a beautiful private estate in the Hollywood Hills, surrounded by lemon trees, fresh flowers, and lush greenery. We started outdoors with an avocado toast bar, fresh orange juice, and coffee from the Signature Select line. I loved seeing the variety of sugar-free creamers—hazelnut, caramel, and vanilla made for a delicious start.

The house itself looked like it belonged in a magazine—the light, the styling, the photography-worthy corners made the setting feel both elegant and welcoming. Inside, Executive Chef Jeff Anderson from Albertsons Companies Culinary Kitchens led a cooking demonstration that was both informative and inspiring. His passion for food was obvious, and he introduced us to several Signature Cafe soups, including tomato basil bisque, white bean and kale, chunky chicken noodle, and my favorite: cauliflower and cheddar. I loved the cauliflower and cheddar soup so much I started thinking of creative uses—like a creamy sauce for zucchini noodles or a drizzle over baked potatoes.

Chef Jeff also demonstrated a versatile Signature Chicken Marinade that can be adapted with your favorite jam or mustard and works well with fish too. It sparked ideas for fish tacos with fresh fruit salsa or an easy slow-cooker chicken dish served over rice. The recipe he shared is simple and flavorful:

Chef Jeff’s Signature Chicken Marinade
Ingredients:

  • 1 cup Signature Kitchens orange marmalade
  • 1–3 Tbsp Sriracha sauce (adjust to taste)
  • 1/2 cup Signature Kitchens soy sauce
  • 1 cup Signature Farms 100% orange juice
  • 2 Tbsp Signature Kitchens Dijon mustard
  • 1/2 cup fresh cilantro, chopped

Whisk all ingredients together and use immediately or refrigerate for later use.

After the demo, we followed Chef Jeff into the kitchen to make grilled flatbread pizzas using fresh dough and Signature ingredients. Rolling out dough and grilling flatbreads in a room full of food bloggers was a blast—the aromas alone were intoxicating. I met bloggers from across the country and left with new connections and ideas.

We chose from a variety of seasonal toppings—tomato-basil pasta sauce, creamy Alfredo, pesto, fresh grated cheeses, roasted butternut squash, sun-dried tomatoes, roasted peppers, bacon, fresh arugula, and more. With so many creative options, the flatbreads turned out beautiful and delicious.

We enjoyed lunch outdoors at a stunning tablescape decorated with succulents and blooms. Conversation ranged from blogging to family life, and Chef Jeff passed around salads made with Signature ingredients—fresh fruit, prosciutto, mozzarella, and a spinach and tomato pasta salad among them. Needless to say, we did not go hungry.

Midway through the afternoon, Tiffani Thiessen joined us. She was warm and down-to-earth, chatting about her Cooking Channel show Dinner at Tiffani’s, family life, and her early years on Saved by the Bell. She mentioned she’s working on her first cookbook, shared a few family favorites like her mom’s cream cheese pie, and even told us a funny behind-the-scenes detail: the food served on the Saved by the Bell set came from a nearby 24-hour deli. She also told us about her rescue chickens—Mable, Clementine, Scarlett, Molly, Dolly, and Ruby—which was an adorable detail that showed her love for home and family.

Tiffani led a dessert demo showing how to make ice cream sandwiches. Her neat trick—slicing a pint of ice cream into one-inch sections with a sharp knife and placing those portions on cookies—makes perfectly sized sandwiches every time. We used Signature ice cream flavors like mint chocolate cookie crunch, vanilla, butter pecan, caramel, java chip, and chocolate moose tracks, paired with the softest Signature Select chocolate chip cookies. She even dipped some of the sandwiches in chopped nuts for extra texture.

She also made coffee-ice-cream floats—an adult-friendly twist that was refreshing and easy to make. We finished the afternoon in the backyard with Tiffani’s homemade peach-infused sweet tea and a toast to a memorable day. She kindly took photos and selfies with everyone and swapped heels for flip-flops, proving she’s as relatable as she is talented.
