Chalky Chicks

Product description

What’s included: one 8 fl oz jar of Chalky Chicks Logan Berry chalk-style paint.

Product makeup and finish: This is a chalk-format furniture paint designed to dry to a flat, chalky matte surface. It’s formulated to adhere to a broad range of materials — wood, laminate, metal, glass, resin and cement — so you can refresh cabinets, tables, décor pieces and craft projects. The finish is suitable for distressing techniques or a smooth, silky touch.

Coverage and use: The formula is intended to provide substantial coverage so fewer coats are needed. It’s compatible with traditional brush and roller application and also works with spray guns and airbrushes for a more professional result. Minimal prep is promoted — in many cases sanding and priming are not required before painting.

Indoor friendliness and dry time: The paint is a low-odor option for interior work and is described to dry quickly, often within about 30 minutes to the touch, allowing faster project turnaround.

Origin and durability: The product is manufactured in the USA and aims to balance ease of use with a resilient, lasting chalky finish suited for both vintage-inspired and contemporary pieces.

Pros

  • Works on many surfaces without extensive prep
  • Low odor and quick drying
  • Spray and airbrush compatible

Cons

  • Color may vary from expectations
  • Performance on larger projects can be inconsistent
  • Smaller container may require multiple jars for big jobs

VerdictA versatile chalk-style paint that delivers strong coverage on many surfaces and dries to a durable matte finish. It’s easy to work with, low in odor, and removes the need for extensive prep on most furniture and décor tasks. Ideal for DIYers who want quick results and compatibility with spray equipment, though color expectations and performance on large projects can vary by batch.

Good-quality paint that covered well and was easy to work with.

  2. Sony 5/5

Rich Brown with a Soft Matte Sheen

Lovely brown tone and a pleasant matte finish. Exactly what I wanted.

Beautiful Result — Easy to Use

The color is gorgeous and it applied smoothly. Very pleased with the effect and ease of use.

    Creamy Beige That Stretches Far

I adore this creamy beige — it pairs wonderfully with gold accents. It’s hard to find a warm creamy tone that doesn’t lean gray, and this one warmed up my ornate gold mirror perfectly. I used a small amount to paint a 2½-foot pot and the white flowers really popped. Cleanup was simple; the paint came off my hands and brush easily. About a quarter of a 4-ounce jar covered the pot, so a little truly does go a long way. The photos don’t capture the soft creamy hue exactly, but in person it’s lovely.

    Covers Nicely and Looks Great

I used the twilight shade on a dresser and it turned out beautifully. I sanded first and the paint went on evenly with no streaking or clumps. The can arrived sealed with no leaks. Though the jar looked small, it stretched well — two coats covered and I still had enough left to tackle a small table or a chair, so I’d call it good value.

    Smooth, Creamy Consistency; color clarification

Note: I meant to review the shade Hail, not Buttermilk — I had both and only used one for testing. Buttermilk has a slight yellow cast compared with Hail, but both have a smooth, creamy hand. I appreciate having mid-size options like 16 or 32 ounces. The texture rivals pricier chalk paints I’ve tried; comparing to Annie Sloan, this brand offers more size flexibility than some competitors.

Nice Flow and Viscosity, Different Shade Than Expected

The paint’s consistency and coverage are excellent — smooth and easy to spread. I ordered the color named Mustard Seed expecting a deep curry-like tone but received a buttery yellow instead. It’s a beautiful shade, just not the deep mustard I had in mind. I ended up mixing in darker pigments to get closer to the look I wanted. I do plan to try the navy next because I liked the formula so much.

Started Great, Then Issues on Larger Surfaces

This began wonderfully — I painted my kitchen table in Old Lace and loved the finish. Encouraged, I moved on to painting the base of my kitchen cabinets, but this time the paint developed clumps and wouldn’t go on as smoothly. At first I thought it had been exposed to air, so I ordered another jar. The same pattern happened: perfect application day one, then problems as I continued using it. I was careful about closing lids between sessions, so the inconsistency was frustrating on a larger project.
