Make these delicious, wholesome toddler bites with only three simple ingredients. Perfect as a snack for toddlers and for weaning babies who have a few teeth.

My little boy has recently turned into a serious snacker. At two years old he’s growing fast and seems hungry more often than not, so I’ve been experimenting with simple, healthy snacks that are easy to prepare and gentle on little mouths.
After trying a few combinations, I settled on these Banana & Orange Oat Toddler Bites. They only use three ingredients — banana, orange juice and rolled oats — and are quick to make. They contain no added sugar or sweeteners and are naturally gluten free, dairy free, egg free and nut free when you use certified gluten-free oats, making them a great option for families dealing with common allergies or intolerances.

These bites bake up very soft, which makes them ideal for toddlers and babies who are starting to chew. The banana gives natural sweetness and moisture while the orange juice adds a bright, citrusy note that toddlers often enjoy. The oats bind everything together and give a gentle texture that’s easy to handle.
Because they include fresh banana, these bites are best eaten within 48 hours when kept in an airtight container in the fridge. They also freeze well, so you can batch-make a larger quantity and defrost portions as needed. Individually wrap each bite for easy freezing, then let thaw at room temperature for a couple of hours before serving; you can gently warm them in the oven or microwave if you prefer.

Banana & Orange Oat Toddler Bites
Description
These soft, bite-sized snacks are made from ripe banana, orange juice and rolled oats. They are naturally sweetened, allergy-friendly when using gluten-free oats, and quick to prepare. Perfect for snack time, packed lunches, or as a small finger food for weaning children who can handle soft textures.
Ingredients
- 1 ripe banana
- 40ml (¼ cup) orange juice
- 75g (about 1 cup) rolled oats
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 170°C (340°F). Line a baking tray with parchment paper or use a non-stick silicone mat.
- In a bowl, mash the ripe banana with a fork until mostly smooth.
- Add the orange juice to the mashed banana and mix well to combine.
- Stir in the rolled oats until the mixture is evenly combined and slightly sticky. Let it sit for a minute so the oats absorb some moisture.
- Scoop out tablespoon-sized portions, shape each into a small round cookie, and place them on the prepared tray. You should get around 10–12 bites depending on size.
- Bake for about 10 minutes, until the edges are set and the centers are slightly firm. Allow to cool on a wire rack before serving so they hold their shape.
Notes
Storage: Keep these bites in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 48 hours. For longer storage, freeze them individually wrapped and place in a freezer-safe bag. Thaw at room temperature for a couple of hours or warm briefly in the oven or microwave.
Serving suggestions: Serve as a snack with a small piece of soft fruit or a bit of cheese if tolerated. For outings, pack a few thawed bites in a lunchbox with an ice pack to keep them fresh.
Allergies and swaps: Use certified gluten-free rolled oats if you need the recipe to be gluten free. The recipe is naturally free of dairy, eggs and nuts. If you want added texture or flavour for older children, try adding a small pinch of cinnamon, a few raisins, or a tablespoon of seed butter — only where allergies are not a concern.
Safety: These bites are soft, but always supervise young children while eating and cut or mash further if serving to babies who are still developing chewing skills.
