Product description
Built around a premium cerium-iron ferro rod, this fire starter is engineered to function in wet and windy conditions and to retain usefulness indefinitely. The rod generates more than 10,000 sparks and can emit temperatures up to roughly 5,500°F, providing intense ignition potential for a variety of tinder types.
The handle is crafted from select beechwood and finished by hand. Craftsmen polish each piece to highlight the natural grain, so no two handles look the same — color and pattern will differ between units. The multi-faceted, diamond-cut shape improves grip and lets you make a longer, controlled striking stroke to maximize spark production.
This kit ships with a striker tool to remove sparks efficiently and a vacuum-sealed fatwood stick made from high-resin pine. The fatwood is all-natural, highly flammable, and designed to help you get a flame from only a few strikes even in tough conditions. Instructions note that the rod has a black protective coat that should be scraped away before first use to expose the active material.
Designed for outdoor activities such as bushcraft, hiking, camping, hunting and backpacking, it also suits emergency preparedness packs. Presentation comes in gift-ready packaging for gifting to outdoor-minded friends or children starting to learn firecraft. As a natural-wood product, handle grain and coloring will vary slightly from one piece to another — this is a feature, not a defect.

Quick tip on the coating
The rod has a black protective layer that scrapers struggle with; coarse sandpaper removes it fast. Otherwise it works perfectly.
