Product description

Designed to promote steady airflow in reptile and aquarium habitats, this hinged screen cover helps maintain a healthier environment for your pet. The top is constructed from black-coated wire mesh set into a durable steel frame to guard against damage from claws and exposure to heat. The mesh also allows light to penetrate while supporting heat lamps placed above it.

A full-length center hinge splits the panel so one half can be lifted for routine tasks—feeding, water changes, or brief handling—without removing fixtures that sit on top. The frame dimensions for this model are 48 x 13 inches, and the cover is offered in a range of other sizes to match common terrarium and aquarium footprints.

Built to tolerate the heat generated by overhead bulbs and resist corrosion, the cover is intended for long-term use. For enhanced closure security, it accepts locking, non-locking, or heavy-duty screen clips available separately. The piece ships as the hinged mesh top only; mounting clips and lighting are not included.

Pros

  • Longitudinal hinge for one-side access
  • Black wire mesh tolerates heat and claws
  • Fits many standard tank sizes

Cons

  • No built-in cable/tubing knockout
  • May require clips for extra security
  • Middle hinge strip can block part of lighting

VerdictThis hinged mesh cover provides dependable ventilation and routine access for reptile and aquatic enclosures. The center hinge lets you open one side without disturbing lights or fixtures, while the black wire mesh and rigid steel frame resist wear from claws and elevated temperatures. It’s a practical roof option for many tank sizes; pair with locking or heavy-duty clips if you need extra securit

  1. janisa rodriguez 4/5

Sturdy option for tanks with pets

Needed a hard top because of cats; this fits my 30-inch tank and can be trimmed for openings. The center strip does block some light, but overall a reliable lid.

  2. Tish Pulsipher 5/5

    Solid and well-made

Fit my tank perfectly and felt very sturdy out of the box.

  3. Jim Prillaman 5/5

    Happy with purchase

Product met expectations and shipping was quick. Would buy again.

  4. Kylee 5/5

    Half-lift makes access easy

Fits a 20-gal perfectly. Being able to lift just one side means I don’t have to remove the light to reach in.

  5. Earl 5/5

    Perfect fit for high 20

Measured 24 1/4 x 12 1/2 and this matched exactly. Works very well and arrived intact.

  6. Amy Clark 3/5

    Arrived bent but fixable

Packaging left it slightly warped, but I bent it back and now it fits and functions fine.

  7. Jen 5/5

    Keeps my cat away

Has prevented my cat from getting into the aquarium. Corners leave room for hoses, and the center hinge makes feeding easy. Waiting to see long-term rust performance.

  8. Melissa Jones 5/5

    Exactly what I needed

Very pleased—fit was perfect and it solved my lid needs.

  9. Cheryl J. Kautz 5/5

    Strong metal protection

Very sturdy metal screen that provides airflow and keeps my two cats away from the tank. So far it’s worked excellently.

  10. Jenn 5/5

    Handles heat lamps

Good product. Has held up to extended use with a heat lamp directly above.

  11. Lee 5/5

    Delivered safely and works well

This screen fit better than my old cover. I was worried about shipping, but it arrived undamaged in a marked box.

  12. E.C. 5/5

    Five stars

Works great and fits as intended.

  13. Jen 5/5

Great for axolotls — very convenient hinge

Used for about a month on a 55-gal with axolotls. Opening half the lid is incredibly handy since I reach in daily. Strong enough for my setup (no gear on top). Lacks a pre-cut knockout for tubing so cords sit under a lifted edge until I modify it. Ordered a second for a 48-gal — cats have walked on it and it held up.
