Product description

Six independent nests per tier: This two-layer nesting unit provides 12 separate compartments in total. Each compartment measures approximately 13.8 x 14.2 inches, sized to comfortably hold a laying hen. The design gives each bird its own private laying area.

Materials and weather protection: The body is constructed from solid wood for a natural, poultry-friendly interior. The sloped roof is finished with waterproof asphalt shingles to help shed rain and snow. An included rear panel helps cut outside noise and creates a more peaceful laying environment.

Egg security and bird access: Each box includes front perches and internal baffles. Perches let hens step up and rest, while the baffles stop eggs from rolling out of the compartments. For added comfort, it’s suggested to place nesting straw or grass in each cubby.

Versatile for different birds: Although designed for hens, the compartments also suit pigeons, quail, ducks and similar small poultry. The unit can be used in built-in wooden coops, covered outdoor runs, and metal-framed chicken enclosures when kept under cover.

Assembly and customer support: All pieces are clearly labeled and the kit ships with step-by-step assembly instructions. Roof panels are removable for cleaning access. If you encounter issues during assembly, the manufacturer provides support to help resolve problems.

Pros

  • Twelve private compartments, each roomy for a hen
  • Solid wood construction with waterproof sloped roof
  • Perches and baffles for safe, tidy egg laying

Cons

  • Wood and joints can degrade if consistently exposed to moisture
  • Corners and fastenings may need reinforcement when wall-mounted
  • Not intended for unprotected outdoor placement

VerdictA roomy, easy-to-assemble wooden nesting rack that gives birds private laying spaces and simple cleaning access thanks to perches and a removable roof. Well suited to indoor or sheltered coops and a variety of poultry. Keep in mind the wood and joints can be sensitive to prolonged wet exposure — best used in dry, covered setups and reinforced if wall-mounted.

Customer reviews

  1. Jennifer Brown 4/5

Sturdy feel, would prefer a back panel

Good box overall and fairly robust. I would have liked a full back panel for extra protection. Best used in a covered area.

  2. Jax 5/5

    Easy assembly and removable roof

Simple to put together and has held up well so far. Appreciate that the roof can be removed for cleaning access.

  3. Ruben 5/5

Functional and practical — good value

Performs its intended job well and meets expectations for an economical nesting solution. Simple and effective.

  4. Dynamita84 1/5

Low durability — fell apart after brief use

Very disappointed in the build quality. Even kept in a covered pen, the wood warped and started splitting after wetting, and within two months pieces began to fail. The unit became flimsy and unusable; I would opt for a sturdier option.

  5. Hunter H. 5/5

Birds loved it; quick to assemble

The hens were immediately curious — one even went broody right away. Assembly was simple and fast, which I appreciated.

  6. Roger E. Dickerson 5/5

Solid indoor dual-level nest — clear instructions

Sturdy ground-level two-tier unit with straightforward assembly directions. Fits neatly inside most coops and my hens took to it right away, so I bought another. Not intended for exposure to the elements — keep it in a dry, covered coop rather than an open wet run.

  7. Pond Hopper 3/5

    Attractive but needed reinforcement

Liked the look and shape, and it went together quickly. At first my older hens ignored it, while younger ones used it occasionally; after three months the older birds started laying there. After I hung it on the wall two corner posts began to separate, so I added brackets to secure them.

  8. Jana Norman 5/5

Good capacity for a small flock

Holds about four hens comfortably. Put together quickly and easily. My girls use it regularly; it cleans up well and looks neat in the coop.
