Product description

Designed as a flashlight-style candling tool, this handheld unit lets you examine incubating eggs to monitor embryo development. It ships with a wrist strap and one AAA battery so you can start using it straight away.

The body is a compact, pocket-friendly design with a narrow light end suited to fitting against the egg. The housing is lightweight plastic and the lamp is a focused LED-type element to illuminate the egg interior.

Power is supplied by a single AAA battery (included). Being cordless makes it easy to move around the brooder or nest without dealing with cords or tangles.

A wrist strap is provided to keep the candler close at hand and help prevent accidental drops while handling eggs. To use, simply place the light end against the egg in a dim or dark space and observe the interior shadows and veins for development checks.

Its small footprint means it’s intended for quick spot checks rather than continuous heavy-duty lab use. It’s ideal for backyard incubation, quick inspections, and keeping near the nest for convenience.

Pros

  • Pocketable, lightweight design
  • Includes wrist strap and AAA battery
  • Cordless, easy to use on the go

Cons

  • Beam may be weak for thicker-shelled eggs
  • Build and switch can feel flimsy
  • Not intended for heavy, continuous use

Performance varies by user expectations — many find the beam bright and handy for routine checks, while others report dim output or reliability problems. If you need a lightweight, portable tester for casual egg checks, this unit i

    Works well

    Works well. Very bright.

  2. Lori Saltares 1/5

    Not bright enough for me

Too dim to see through even pale eggs. I tossed the packaging so I couldn't return it. Serves as a tiny flashlight only.

  3. Diane Watson 5/5

    Useful and compact

Small unit, but it reliably shows embryo progress without total darkness. I hang it by the strap near the nest for quick checks. Very handy.

  4. Lori Sew/Cook/Rennovate 5/5

    My go-to candler

    My go-to candler.

  5. CO64Px7 1/5

    Two failed units

Bought two; neither lasted. One worked at first but stopped after reassembly. Very frustrating.

  6. Savannah Bolt 5/5

    Fits eggs well

Great candling light — fits the egg base and is affordably made.

  7. d 5/5

    Compact and powerful

Small and bright; easy to view inside eggs!

  8. Copenbrau 3/5

Does the job but flawed switch

Lights up nicely, but the switch is unreliable — I have to loosen the tip to turn it off.

  9. Sam D 2/5

    Overpriced for the output

Skip this and get a stronger LED torch. It’s barely adequate for candling and better suited as an emergency glovebox light.
