This Wheel Marking Gauge Plus is designed to combine scribing accuracy with simple depth measurement for dovetails, tenons, mortises and general joinery. The tool functions as a wheel scribe and a depth stop, letting you transfer layout lines and check depths with the same device.
The kit ships with an added metal marking pen, a pack of ten small layout pencils, a softwood cutter and a hardwood cutter. The blade assembly locks securely and can be swapped to accept a holder for 4mm leads if pencil marking is preferred. A spare cutting wheel is included for quick replacement.
Adjustment is handled in two stages: a coarse setting for rapid positioning and a fine micro-adjustment for precise tuning. A knurled control and tailored tail provide positive, repeatable changes — handy for marking multiple parts to the same reference or when laying out dovetail jigs.
The rod is an 8" precision-ground steel bar, hardened for durability and graduated in both metric (1 mm) and imperial (1/32 in) increments so you can work in either system without guessing. Pairing this rod with the wheel cutter yields crisp hairline scribe marks across hardwoods, softwoods and engineered boards.
A solid 2.28" brass face runs against the workpiece edge to stabilize the tool and produce consistent lines. The wheel cutter retracts for safe storage and allows the gauge to stand vertically in a compact shop setup. Overall construction mixes hardened steel components, brass seating, and replaceable cutters for serviceable longevity.
