Product description
What’s in the box: the BE6500 (Archer BE400) router, a 12V ⎓ 2.5A power adapter, an Ethernet cable for initial setup, and a quick installation guide.
Hardware and range: This dual‑band Wi‑Fi 7 router uses six high‑performance external antennas and Beamforming to push signals across larger areas — up to about 2,400 sq. ft. in typical home deployments and supporting as many as 90 connected devices. The unit offers six spatial streams and an aggregate wireless throughput quoted around 6.5 Gbps total (roughly 5 GHz ~5,764 Mbps and 2.4 GHz ~688 Mbps), aimed at 4K/8K video, AR/VR, and heavy multiuser environments.
Wired and expansion ports: For wired backhaul and high‑speed devices, the BE400 provides a 2.5 Gbps WAN/LAN port plus a second 2.5 Gbps LAN port and three 1 Gbps LAN ports for wired clients. A USB 3.0 port enables simple file sharing and peripheral connections for compatible devices. The router supports integration with multi‑gig modems to make the most of gig+ internet plans.
Software, security and compatibility: The router incorporates Wi‑Fi 7 enhancements such as Multi‑Link Operation (MLO) for simultaneous multi‑band transfers, Multi‑RUs, and 4K‑QAM for denser modulation. Standard modern features are included: MU‑MIMO, OFDMA, Airtime Fairness, DFS, AP mode, guest networks, IPv4/IPv6 support, port forwarding/triggering, SPI firewall, IP & MAC binding and an Application Layer Gateway. Voice assistant compatibility covers popular platforms and the device can receive cloud‑delivered firmware updates.
Management and parental controls: Network setup and daily management are handled via the Tether mobile app or a web interface. The HomeShield suite adds a real‑time network scanner, parental controls for schedules and content filtering, and QoS to prioritize chosen devices. You can also isolate IoT devices on a separate SSID for added security.
Mesh and deployment notes: The BE400 is EasyMesh‑compatible, allowing it to form a unified mesh with other EasyMesh devices and compatible extenders. It’s not intended to replace dedicated mesh systems from other product lines, so compatibility with some branded mesh kits may be limited. Physical dimensions are 10.6 x 6 x 1.9 inches, making it compact enough for most media cabinets or desktops while still delivering multi‑room coverage.
Pros
- Wi‑Fi 7 features (MLO, Multi‑RUs, 4K‑QAM) for higher throughput
- Dual 2.5 Gbps wired ports plus multiple 1 Gbps LAN ports
- App and HomeShield tools for easy management and parental controls
Cons
- USB file sharing can be finicky with some client OSes
- May still need extenders for very large homes
- Not compatible with some proprietary mesh systems
VerdictThe Archer BE400 (BE6500) delivers a significant connectivity upgrade for households that need high wireless throughput, multi‑gig wired links, and straightforward setup. With Wi‑Fi 7 features like MLO, Multi‑RUs and 4K‑QAM, plus a pair of 2.5 Gbps ports and USB flexibility, it handles heavy streaming, gaming, and many simultaneous clients with minimal fuss. It also provides solid security control

Rajiv Chandran 5/5
Very fast wireless speeds
Achieves very fast throughput — I consistently get over 500 Mbps on a plan that advertises 400 Mbps, so wireless performance is excellent for my needs.

Yasmani Machado 5/5
Stable, fast, simple to set up
Installation was quick and the connection has stayed steady. My small house gets full coverage with no dead spots and devices don’t drop when moving between rooms. The mobile app makes network management easy. For my needs it’s dependable, fast, and straightforward.

Solid Wi‑Fi 7 upgrade with reliable speed and range
Setup was simple with the maker’s app and everything worked quickly. Speeds and stability are a noticeable step up — many phones, TVs and computers run concurrently without slowdowns. Coverage is consistent throughout my home, the 2.5 Gbps ports are useful for faster wired connections, and the USB 3.0 port adds flexibility. HomeShield makes device monitoring and basic security straightforward.

Reliable AP performance with wide coverage
I replaced an older unit and this router delivers much better coverage. It supports a single SSID for both bands and auto‑adapts client connections without fuss. I run it as an access point since my server handles routing, and all devices connect quickly and remain stable without repeaters.

Easy setup and improved range — even better with an extender
I swapped from another brand that didn’t cover my single‑story 2,200 sq ft house. This router improved coverage noticeably; not perfect alone, but much better. Setup took about 10–15 minutes using the app, and the admin web page is available if you prefer a desktop. Overall I’m very pleased, and pairing it with an extender fixed the remaining weak spots.

Brela Jovak 5/5
Dependable, easy-to-use router with strong speeds
I moved into a new apartment and replaced an older router that kept dropping. After checking reviews I bought this model and it’s been solid: fast, stable, and handles many devices. It’s compact, fits my 1,500 sq ft apartment, and even placed at one end it reaches the far side without issues. It also automatically balances clients between 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz.

Major boost for gigabit fiber — excellent wireless throughput
After a week on a 1 Gbps fiber line I routinely see about 850 Mbps down and ~275–300 Mbps up over Wi‑Fi, which is impressive. Setup via the app was fast and the interface is clean. I also appreciate that the router supports VPN client use directly on the device for extra privacy.

Great value — exceeded expectations
Exceeded my expectations with a long reach and intuitive app. Easy to manage and I would buy it again.
-
Duval Chad 5/5
Great for segmented networks and control
I wanted more control than my ISP modem provided and needed separate networks for work and entertainment. This router’s features and security options made it the right pick. Setup via the web UI was straightforward and creating multiple SSIDs was simple. From unboxing to everyone online took about 20–30 minutes.

USB sharing worked for Windows but not my Chromebox
I have a modest home network and replaced an older router. Setup was easy and the unit works well, but I couldn’t get the USB file share to work with my Chromebox. Windows machines connected after some tweaking, but ChromeOS’s SMB implementation made the Chromebox incompatible. There’s a low‑performance workaround, but don’t expect Chromebox USB sharing to be plug‑and‑play.
