Product description

What’s in the kit: An 8-channel PoE network video recorder (NVR) paired with six 5MP PoE bullet cameras, mounting hardware, and a preinstalled hard drive (capacity varies by package). The NVR accepts additional PoE cameras or networked units to expand coverage up to its channel limit.Sensors and optics: Each camera records at 5MP Super HD resolution for detailed daytime footage. Infrared arrays (several LEDs per camera) provide black-and-white night vision that reaches roughly 100 feet under typical conditions, letting you monitor large yards and driveways.Physical build and connectivity: Cameras use metal housings designed for outdoor mounting and come with adjustable mounting brackets. Power and video travel over a single Ethernet cable to the PoE NVR, simplifying installation and eliminating separate power runs. The system supports standard RJ45 network connections and common PoE wiring practices.Smart detection and audio: Onboard analytics can distinguish people, animals, and vehicles to help cut down on nuisance alerts; detection types can be selected for each camera so push notifications tell you at a glance what was seen. Built-in microphones capture ambient sound to complement video and add context to recorded events.Recording and operation: The NVR supports continuous 24/7 recording as well as event-triggered clips, with local playback via a monitor attached to the recorder and remote access through Reolink’s apps and desktop client. The unit also offers options for video compression and storage management to extend retention.Warranty and support: The system is backed by a manufacturer warranty and ongoing technical support to assist with setup, troubleshooting, and firmware updates.

Pros

  • High-resolution 5MP imaging with long-range IR night vision
  • Single-cable PoE for power and video simplifies wiring
  • Smart person/animal/vehicle detection reduces false alerts

Cons

  • Wired installation requires running Ethernet to each camera
  • Some software modes and playback navigation can be finicky
  • Initial setup and sensitivity tuning take time

VerdictThis 8-channel PoE kit combines high-resolution 5MP cameras and an NVR for a reliable, wired surveillance solution. It offers clear day/night video, on-device audio capture, and customizable AI alerts that reduce false alarms. Installation requires cable runs but is straightforward for DIYers who want continuous local recording and expandable coverage.

Customer reviews

  1. Christopher Craven 5/5

    Quick to install

    Setup was straightforward and fast.

  2. Lazaro Castro Jr 5/5

    Reliable wired setup

I replaced unreliable wireless cameras with this PoE kit and haven’t regretted it. Once each camera had Ethernet, connections and power were consistent. Image clarity for 5MP is strong both day and night. I started with the six-camera kit and later added cameras across my network — the NVR and client software handled the expansion. Works well with my wider smart-home lab.

  3. Raul 5/5

    Worth the investment

Good build and dependable operation. Detection settings are flexible so you can choose to only alert on specific targets like vehicles in a driveway. The app takes a little time to learn, but once dialed in the system is very dependable.

  4. CHTDesign1 5/5

Full coverage for peace of mind

Covers every angle of the property and records all comings and goings. Night scenes are handled well. Motion alerts can be tuned to text you when needed. Buy extra cable for long runs; this wired system delivers reliable monitoring.

  5. Laynae 5/5

    Solid performance for the price

Very happy so far. Video quality is crisp, night illumination works well (though insects do gather at the IR lights), and the live-view interface is clear and intuitive. It was mostly plug-and-play for basic use. The preinstalled drive kept about a week of footage at my settings. Running Ethernet in the attic was the hardest part. A few glitches: selecting older playback dates sometimes fails on the first try, but overall no deal-breakers.

  6. Gerhard Maly 5/5

    Exceeds expectations

This unit delivered features beyond the listing, including H.265 options and support for very large drives. I installed a 14TB disk and the recorder recognized the space. Motion zones and sensitivity tuning let me ignore irrelevant activity while still catching cars, people, and wildlife. Setup was intuitive and day/night image quality is excellent; I haven’t used cloud features yet.

  7. whiteknuckles 4/5

    Good hardware, software needs patience

Hardware is solid — metal cameras, compact design, strong night vision — but the software has a learning curve. I can view locally on a monitor and remotely via the app and desktop client, but some features take time to understand. Installation required attic and crawlspace work since these are PoE units. Overall dependable once configured, just be ready to spend a day or two on setup.
