Product description

Optical performance: This loupe is built around an 18mm triplet optic offering 10x magnification. The three-element triplet design is both achromatic and aplanatic, which helps minimize color shifts and spherical aberrations for a clearer, truer image at close range.

Construction and materials: The lens assembly uses quality optical glass set in a compact metal housing with a protective folding cover. The kit arrives with a synthetic leather carry case for protection and travel, and the loupe itself is maintenance-free and requires no batteries.

Size and portability: With an 18mm diameter optic and a foldaway sleeve, the loupe folds down to pocket size for convenient transport. A small lanyard hole on the housing allows attachment to a cord or clip so it can be worn or tethered for quick access.

How it’s used: Intended for jewelers, gemologists, collectors, prospectors, botanists and field geologists, the loupe is ideal for inspecting gemstones, identifying mineral grains, spotting metal flakes in pans, and examining plant structures. Its 10x power gives detailed views while keeping handling simple.

Packaging: The product ships in standard factory packaging and includes the synthetic leather case mentioned above, making it suitable as a field tool or a gift for hobbyists and professionals.

Pros

  • Sharp 10x triplet optics with reduced color fringing
  • Compact foldaway body with lanyard hole
  • Includes protective synthetic leather case

Cons

  • Small viewing aperture limits field of view
  • No integrated lighting for dark conditions
  • Can produce reflections in bright light

VerdictThis 10x, 18mm triplet loupe offers sharp, color-corrected viewing in a tiny, foldable package. The achromatic, aplanatic triplet lens reduces color fringing and spherical distortion, making it suitable for close inspection of gems, minerals, small finds and botanical details. Its small footprint and included synthetic leather case make it convenient to carry, and the lanyard hole lets you keep it

Customer reviews

  1. Sydney 5/5

    Reliable in the field

Bought for a geology field camp and it performed as required. I added a ring to the top loop and hung it on a lanyard; it's held up well. Compact for my pack and great for spotting tiny grains in samples.

  2. matthew reams 2/5

    Glare can be distracting

    Too much reflection.

  3. KaleOrton 5/5

    Very pleased

Happy with it — quality glass, solid metal body and a comfortable rubber grip.

  4. francisco 5/5

    Meets the listing

    Exactly as advertised.

  5. Tam25 5/5

    Works well for botany

Purchased for botany study. Provides clear magnification, feels sturdy, and comes with a neat, well-made small case. Satisfied with its performance.

  6. Francois Flauss 5/5

    Good optics, compact lens

Optical quality is good, though the lens opening is a bit small.

  7. CARL 3/5

    Straightforward 10x magnifier

A basic 10x triplet that does its single job well. If you need higher powers like 30x or 60x or models with LED illumination, there are other options available.

  8. The Do It Yourself World 5/5

    Small but powerful

At first I was surprised by how small it is, but the 10x image is excellent and the glass is very clear. It comes in a protective synthetic leather case that outperforms plastic. I use it to pick out fine gold flakes when prospecting and to check suspect specimens — it’s replacing my old loupe.
